Missionary Talks 21: David Carrel

Filed under: Podcast,Show Notes — David Peach at 7:22 pm on Sunday, March 25, 2007

Bro. Carrel is a missionary on deputation going to Brazil. Those of you who heard episode 6 know that deputation is a time that a missionary goes to different churches to seek financial and prayer support for his ministry. Bro. David is the first missionary on deputation that I have spoken with on Missionary Talks. But, Bro. David does not call it deputation. He uses the term “pre-field ministry.” Listen as he explains what is meant by this term.

He is newly married and he and his wife Sarah are looking to jump right into an existing ministry. She will be working as a Christian counselor at a missions hospital while he will be working in a church and Bible institute to help train nationals to evangelize their own people.

Take time to visit their website and watch their ministry video.

Missionary Talks 20: Garvin Dykes

Filed under: Podcast,Show Notes — David Peach at 3:10 pm on Monday, March 19, 2007

In episode 18 I spoke with John Yingling, the Missions Director for Baptist International Outreach. At that time I knew that Bro. Garvin Dykes would be coming to the area, but then it did not look like I was going to be able to interview Bro. Dykes who is the President of the same board that Bro. Yingling represents.

Therefore, this interview is not about Bro. Dykes nor the BIO mission board. Rather, this is about a recent 3 month trip that Bro. Garvin took to Botswana, Ethiopia and Zambia. He tells about different types of ministries in which he was involved during the trip. Deaf ministries, Bible institutes, children’s ministries and personal evangelism are just some of the ministries he mentions.

Bro. Dykes also takes a couple of minutes to share with us where he thinks the greatest needs are within missions today. He talks about countries where the Gospel is difficult to penetrate due to different factors. Some because of culture, others because of a lack of religious freedom.

Missionary Talks 19: Peter Ard

Filed under: Podcast,Show Notes — David Peach at 10:27 pm on Monday, March 12, 2007

Missionary Peter Ard has been in Argentina for 19 years working with the Jews. In this episode he shares some of his philosophy of ministry and how the Lord called him to Argentina. Though born in California, he was living in Hawaii when the Lord called him to be a missionary.

It is interesting to hear him tell his salvation testimony with great detail of the events surrounding his conversion on a military ship. When talking about his call to Argentina he shares with us the name of the college course he was attending at that moment.

As a side note of interest, Bro. Ard is the father to the MK I interviewed for episode 11, Elisabeth Carney.

Promotional Help

Filed under: Information — David Peach at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, March 7, 2007

I have asked for your help in voting for Missionary Talks at Podcast Alley. I think I have even mentioned that Missionary Talks can be dugg at digg.com. What I have not mentioned is the need for reviews through iTunes. The vast majority of listeners (greater than 75%) to Missionary Talks use iTunes to download the show. If you are an iTunes user, would you be so kind as to leave a review at iTunes?

Votes and reviews are how podcasts become more visible when people are browsing for new shows to listen to. iTunes is the most effective directory for garnering new listeners. Your review will go a long way to getting the show more publicity.

Of course, the best promotion you can do for Missionary Talks is to tell your friends. Your personal recommendation will help the show grow quickly.

We have some great interviews planned over the next few weeks. Be sure to hear the show that should be posted April 2. I will be taking a trip with a medical team to a city near here and I plan to bring a special show talking about short term trips that can really be a blessing to those on the trip and those to whom they serve.

Thank you for listening and staying subscribed.

Missionary Talks 18: John Yingling BIO

Filed under: Podcast,Show Notes — David Peach at 1:45 am on Monday, March 5, 2007

John Yingling joins us to talk about Baptist International Outreach (BIO). John is the Missions Director for the board. He gives the history of the board and a little information about how the board is unique. He also shares with the listeners some ideas on how to prepare themselves for service on the mission field.

This is the first interview we have with a board representative. I plan to talk with other good boards and get information from them that can be a help to people looking to serve the Lord on the mission field.
