Missionary Talks 26: David Livingstone (part 2)

Filed under: Show Notes — David Peach at 11:50 pm on Sunday, May 27, 2007

This is the second part of a two part biography of the life of missionary David Livingstone. If you have not heard part one, you will want to go back and listen to it as this one picks up right where the other one left off.

Again, I would like to thank Gordon Scott for providing the voice of Dr. Livingstone for this episode. The music was again provided by Magnatune artist, Cheryl Ann Fulton.

Please write me or leave comments here if you have questions or clarifications concerning the life of Dr. Livingstone.

Soon I will be making the full audio available in one sound file. I will leave a post here at the site when it is ready. I do not plan to put it into the podcast feed. Therefore you will need to get it from here. It should not take me too long to have it available.

Following is the transcript for this portion of the biography.

After putting the family on a ship back to Scotland, David was in (Read on …)

Missionary Talks 25: David Livingstone (part 1)

Filed under: Show Notes — David Peach at 10:53 pm on Sunday, May 20, 2007

This episode and the next of Missionary Talks will be a biography of the life of David Livingstone, the great missionary explorer of Africa. After these two episodes have been released, I will make a single file download from which you will be able to hear the whole story in one audio file.

I would like to thank Gordon Scott for providing the voices of Dr. David Livingstone and Robert Moffat for this episode.

There are many places where you can get information about Dr. Livingstone from the web. There are also the full text of his books available for reading on line.

The music is from the CD The Airs of Wales by Cheryl Ann Fulton from the Magnatune label.

Please leave any comments you have about this episode or about the life of Dr. Livingstone in the comments section. Or you can write me an email telling me what you thought of the show.

Following is the transcript from this episode.

New: People Groups and Missionary Stories

Filed under: Information — David Peach at 7:21 am on Saturday, May 19, 2007

In the sidebar I have integrated an information box from Joshua Project. It gives you a people group to pray for each day and a little bit of information about the group. You can check back here daily to read about another group of people who need to hear the Gospel. Click on the picture to get detailed information about how to pray.

I am very excited about the next program that I have coming out. I am in the final editing process now and hopefully will have it available early next week. I am doing a 2 part story of the life of David Livingstone. These will obviously be different types of episodes in that I will not be interviewing him (he died in 1873). I will post the text to these episodes along with the audio.

I know it has been a couple of weeks since the last episode came out, but I think it will be worth the wait. I also have some interviews planned, we are just trying to work out schedules to be able to record. There is a possibility that I will be taking a trip in a few weeks that will give me a chance to meet with a small number of missionaries that I may be able to get interviews from. Of course, this will all be happening at the same time I will be busy with camps and other obligations. If you will stay subscribed and be patient, I plan to get back to a regular release schedule.

Please let me know what you think about the David Livingstone episodes as they come out. I would like to occasionally do others in that same format if you would like to hear them. I think there are many people who have heard the stories of Carey, Moffat and Borden, but it is also possible that many of the Missionary Talks listeners may have never heard of these great missionaries of the past.

Missionary Talks 24: Sherry Rovirosa

Filed under: Podcast,Show Notes — David Peach at 6:41 am on Thursday, May 3, 2007

Sherry is the wife of Pancho whom I interviewed for episode 14 of Missionary Talks. They are going to Cuba as missionaries. Since they do not have permission for their whole family to live in Cuba at this time, they will be working in México.

The Rovirosas are in the process of renting a house and getting a feel for the area. I talked with Sherry about the purpose of this trip. She shared with me what they are trying to find out so that they can work on a final budget. I also talked with her about her fears, concerns and joys about moving to the mission field, especially as it relates to her being a mother.

Missionary Talks 23: Stories from Peru

Filed under: Podcast,Show Notes — David Peach at 10:47 pm on Monday, April 16, 2007

I spoke with Rich Brunner and Robby Spencer. Robby is a senior in high school and has been on a few different missions trips. Rich currently pastors the young adults at his church, but has already started raising his support to move to Mexico as a full time missionary.

In this show we simply shared stories of things that each of us had experienced on different trips to the country of Peru. Rich mentions in the show that he would be glad to give information about different short term missions opportunities. Feel free to contact him for further information. He can be reached by email or contacting his church.

The group that travels to Peru to do literature distribution with the Quechua Indians is called Andes Blanket.
