Missionary Talks 34: John

Filed under: Podcast,Show Notes — David Peach at 1:59 pm on Saturday, September 29, 2007

John and his family have been missionaries to the Jews in New York City for 7 years. Though he was born in Michigan, John moved to New York in the early 1990s to pursue a career in art. He was saved as an adult and after finishing Bible college in Tennessee, he returned to New York with a passion to reach the Jewish community with the news of the Messiah.

I first met John at a missions conference about 10 years ago and, though we have spent little time together, each time we have a chance to talk, I feel like I am talking with an old friend. I think you will sense that too as you listen to him tell about his passion for reaching the Jews with the Gospel.

Erin and Shedrach

In this interview she talks with us about a couple of short term missions trips to Zimbabwe and China that helped shape the direction God had for her life. She also highly recommended that the listeners read biographies of missionaries. She said of missionary biographies that they “are a very non-threatening way to learn about missions and to learn about different countries in the world.”

She concluded her interview with this bit of advice:

[I would encourage you that] if God has placed in your heart a desire to go overseas or to be a part of a ministry in the states, that you really take the opportunity. It has nothing to do with how you feel, it has to do with obedience and what the Lord is asking of us.
